Former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell was arrested on Tuesday morning in relation to part of a money laundering investigation.
Rosell – who resigned in 2014 after he was alleged to have misappropriated funds from the club’s signing of Neymar – is one of four people arrested in relation to this case.
Diario Sport report Barca are not expected to make a comment on the arrest, which is part of what police are calling ‘Operation Rimet’ - in reference to former FIFA president Jules Rimet.
The money laundering investigation is in relation to the purchasing of television rights for past matches of Brazil's national team.
Rosell is the second former Blaugrana president to be arrested in recent years after Josep Lluis Nunez (president 1978-2000) was sentenced to six years in 2014 after a conviction of bribery and falsifying document in the ‘Hacienda Case’.
