Preview: Villarreal-Depor

Deportivo La Coruna can belatedly confirm their place in La Liga next season with victory over Villarreal, who need the points for a Europa League spot.

Villarreal boss Fran Escriba on qualifying for the Europa League: “We’re not thinking about Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao because we know that we depend on ourselves and that we can’t fail.

“Everything’s very tight and it’ll be so until the end. Athletic’s result [against Alaves] was great for us and now this is a similar match.

“We hope to be at that same level of concentration. This is also our last game of the season at home, so we hope the fans are aware of it.”

Depor boss Pepe Mel on his side attempting to survive relegation: “We have to treat it as a decisive match.

“We also treated it that way in our last game [against Espanyol], but match proved difficult and strange. Still, I liked the second half and hope we’ll start like that [on Saturday].

“Leaving everything for later is making our lives difficult. We must give the best of ourselves.”
