Pellegrino’s future in the balance

Alaves manager Mauricio Pellegrino’s future at the club is in the balance as he has not committed to a new contract, say reports in Spain.

Media reports last week suggested the Argentine Coach had reached an agreement over a new deal at the Mendizorroza but El Mundo Deportivo now state no such deal has been struck and his future will only be decided at the end of the campaign.

The 46-year-old, appointed at the Basque club last summer, has guided them to a guaranteed top-half La Liga finish and a Copa del Rey final against Barcelona in their first campaign back in the top flight.

Mundo Deportivo and AS have both linked Pellegrino to a summer switch to Celta Vigo, who’s current Argentine boss Eduardo Berizzo is rumoured to be replacing Jorge Sampaoli at Sevilla, with the former Chile Coach expected to take over at Argentina.

With their minds now fully set on the Copa final last this month, Alaves will not want this uncertainty to cloud the build-up to the showpiece.
