Alaves hammer sorry Betis

Alaves fought back from a goal down to record a 4-1 victory at Real Betis and crank up the pressure on under-fire Victor Sanchez Del Amo.

Neither side had much at stake for the encounter at Estadio Benito Villamarin with both safe in mid-table but the hosts took the lead in the 12th minute through loanee Ruben Pardo.

However, the Basques netted three goals in a ten-minute spell at the start of the second half to turn the match on its head.

First Nenad Krsticic equalised three minutes after the break, then Ruben Sobrino put Alaves ahead before Christian Santos netted their third.

Los Verdiblancos pushed for a way back into the game but could find no way past the stubborn visitors, who added a fourth late on through Aleksandar Katai to pile on the misery for the hosts.

Alaves stay tenth in the standings while Betis are unmoved in 15th
