Hapless Granada on the brink

Granada slipped closer to relegation to the Segunda after Wednesday night’s two-goal home defeat to Malaga in the east Andalucian derby.

A second half double from Sandro Ramirez saw Michel’s side make it four wins in five to ensure they were mathematically safe from relegation with four matches remaining.

Former Arsenal and England captain Tony Adams was parachuted into El Grana’s dugout following the dismissal of Lucas Alcaraz earlier this month, but he has now overseen three consecutive defeats without a goal being scored.

Malaga dominated the first half without scoring and did not conceded a shot and the inevitable opening goal came two minutes after the break when former Barcelona striker Sandro lashed home from 25 yards.

Rene Khrin’s saved effort on the hour mark was as close as the hosts came to an equaliser before Sandro doubled his tally after finishing off Javier Ontiveros’ threaded ball to leave Granada on the brink.
