Espanyol keen to retain duo

Espanyol are prioritising retaining on-loan duo Diego Lopez and Diego Reyes beyond the current season, confirmed chief executive Ramon Robert.

Lopez and Reyes joined the Catalan club on season-long loan deals last summer from AC Milan and FC Porto respectively and have both been key in guiding the club to the top half of La Liga.

"Our intention is for Diego Reyes and Diego Lopez to remain," Robert is reported as saying in Marca.

"We will not do anything crazy but we will do all that we can for them to continue.

"It's no secret that Diego Lopez wants to stay and that we want him to continue, we have to wait and see what happens with Milan and with the change of ownership.

"Our intention is for him to remain, the same as with Reyes."

Espanyol hold an option to acquire Reyes outright after this season for a reported €7m and has made 27 appearances this campaign, while 35-year-old Lopez has kept 11 clean sheets in 30 league starts.
