RM agree to sign Atleti’s Theo – report

Real Madrid are set to raid cross-city rivals Atletico for the signing of highly-rated defender Theo Hernandez, according to reports in Spain.

Marca state Los Rojiblancos refused to negotiate with Zinedine Zidane’s side which has prompted Madrid to offer €24m – a bid which will trigger the 19-year-old’s release clause at the Vicente Calderon.

The attack-minded full-back has been identified as a key target at the Bernabeu this summer, the report continues, as Madrid will look to sell Fabio Coentrao and strengthen the left full-back position, with Marca saying the deal has been 'agreed' between the player and the club.

There have been various reports across the Spanish media that the two Madrid clubs have a ‘non-aggression’ transfer pact where they will not sign players from either club, although this deal would seemingly discard such an agreement.

Theo’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon's has reportedly declared Hernandez desires a transfer across the capital, even though Atleti will make an attempt to persuade him to stay.

The full-back has made 29 appearances on loan at Alaves this season and is a French Under 20 international, also eligible for Spain.
