Garitano dismissal imminent?

Gaizka Garitano will meet with Deportivo La Coruna’s board on Sunday, where the Coach is expected to be relieved of his duties.

Depor were hammered 4-0 at fellow strugglers Leganes on Saturday, leaving the Galicians just a place above the relegation zone in La Liga prompting the travelling fans to call for Garitano’s head.

“Tomorrow we’ll have a meeting and we’ll assess the situation,” President Tino Fernandez said after the game.

“If we need to make some changes, we’ll do so tomorrow. We’re going to meet tomorrow, we’ll make a decision and we’ll announce it.

“It’s a situation of disappointment and sadness and I ask the fans for forgiveness.

“We have a lot of games left and we’re going to pick ourselves up, this is perfectly possible.

“We need to reset ourselves and give a very different account of ourselves.”

Radio Marca suggests former Depor midfielder Sergio Gonzalez is the favourite to replace Garitano.

The 40-year-old made over 300 appearances for the Riazor outfit between 2001 and 2010 but has been out of managerial work since being fired by Espanyol midway through last season.
