Espanyol aiming for Europe – QSF

Espanyol boss Quique Sanchez Flores has told fans to dream of the club qualifying for Europe as that is the aim for the club this campaign.

A top six finish would guarantee a spot in Europe next season and the Catalans currently sit 8th, three points behind sixth-placed Villarreal going into their Friday night clash with high-flying Real Sociedad on Friday.

“I want to create dreams for our fans, to allow them to aspire to better things than what this club has achieved in recent seasons,” explained the former Watford boss at a pre-game press conference.

“The only thing that our recent results have done for us is improve our mood and make us happy, we have momentum and we seek to continue with that.

“We are prepared to talk about Europe, it’s what we are aiming for this season. We need to always keep our eyes on the next game but it is not impossible if we continue with recent performances and continue to work hard.

“Real Sociedad are not just a team, they are a project with continuity of players, coaches, the system…they defend well and press in the right places, making things very tough for their opponents.”
