Jese rues missed opportunity

Las Palmas forward Jese Rodriguez revealed conflicting emotions after making his debut for the club but also missing a great chance to score.

The 23-year-old agreed a six-month loan with Los Amarillos from Paris Saint-Germain before the close of the January transfer window to return to his hometown club, but missed an open goal in Monday’s 1-0 defeat at Granada after coming on as a 67th minute substitute.

"I'm happy because I had not played in two-and-a-half months but I'm disappointed with the missed opportunity and the defeat,” the forward is quoted as saying by Marca.

"We were superior, especially in the second half, and we had chances to win.

“I had the chance to equalise, and I'm very angry to have missed that goal. It would have changed the game."

Coach Quique Setien has played down the miss and believes it is due to lack of match sharpness which will only increase over the coming weeks.

"It's normal that Jese misses goals because he has gone a long time without playing," Setien told Mundo Deportivo.

"We have to give him time. I'm sure another day he will score."
