Alcaraz hails Grana intensity in win

Granada boss Lucas Alcaraz hailed the intensity and work ethic of his side after they secured a vital 1-0 win over Las Palmas on Monday night.

Andreas Pereira’s first-half strike was enough for El Grana’s second league win of the campaign but only after the visitors spurned a number of chances including a gaping miss from new loan signing Jese Rodriguez, who was introduced as a substitute.

“We forced the type of game that we wanted – yes they had more possession, but out players showed the intensity and organisation we have been working towards,” explained Alcaraz.

“There was intensity, we pressed in the right way and of course ultimately the game eventually had the outcome we wanted.

“We won due to our own performance and for that you must credit the players because things have not been easy recently.

“Next up we have Eibar which we will need to display the same qualities but we believe we can now start picking up more points and hopefully the fans can enjoy themselves again.”

Granada have moved off the bottom of the table, leapfrogging Osasuna, and sit five points from 17th-placed Leganes and safety.
