Rayo Vallecano have offered Roman Zozulya the opportunity to return to the club on loan from Real Betis.
The Ukrainian forward joined the Madrid side from the Verdiblancos during the January transfer window.
However, Rayo fans protested against the move after seeing evidence that Zozulya is a supporter of far-right politics.
With Vallecas, the commuity in which the club are based, being a predominantly left-wing area, fans made their feelings clear about the transfer, labelling the 27-year-old a 'Nazi.'
The player denied the allegations but amid fears for his safety, he subsequently returned to his parent club. Both Rayo and Betis then issued statements in a bid to diffuse the situation.
Now, given that he is still registered as a Rayo player, Zozulya has been offered the chance to return to the Segunda club for the remainder of the season.
Should he refuse, he will not be able to play competitive football for the rest of the campaign. He is not resistered to participate in the second half of Betis' season, while the fact he played for Dnipro before moving to Andalusia at the start of 2016-17 means FIFA rules would prevent him from appearing for anyone else.
Zozulya has until Monday to make his decision.
