Aspas plays down Ramos spitting

Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas admits he wants to come up against Sergio Ramos in their Copa del Rey second leg, despite spitting allegations.

Reports claim the Real Madrid captain intentionally spat at the striker during the first leg encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu last Wednesday, but Aspas has tried to play down the seriousness of the offence.

"I want Ramos to play," Aspas told Cadena Ser.

"It [spitting] has happened to me before but it makes more noise when it is the Real captain. But what happens on the pitch stays on the pitch. I am hot-blooded.

"I always like to play against the best players and Cristiano is one of the best in the world, so I hope he plays also.

"Real are always favourite – they are a rival that never gives anything away.”

Celta lead 2-1 from the first leg – Aspas and Jonny netted for Eduardo Berrizo’s side, while Marcelo’s goal wasn’t enough to save Madrid from a second consecutive defeat.
