Eusebio hails ‘hard fought’ win

Real Sociedad boss Eusebio Sacristan praised his team for a ‘hard fought’ win away to a ‘difficult opponent’ in Malaga on Monday night.

After a scoreless first half, Esteban Granero’s free-kick fortunately hit Inigo Martinez’s head in the wall and the ball looped into the top corner of the net, wrong footing Carlos Kameni, before Juanmi doubled La Real’s lead with half an hour remaining to bring them into fifth place.

“Both sides were evenly matched from start to finish, so I consider this an excellent three points,” admitted Eusebio after the game to reporters.

“We played a good game – we kept a lot of possession in good areas, forced attacks and kept our defensive shape.

“Malaga put everything into this game, which makes the points even more valuable.”

The win takes La Real to within two points of fourth-placed Atletico, while Malaga stay 13th.
