Toral to swap Granada for Rangers

Jon Toral is set to end his loan spell with Granada and join Glasgow Rangers on a temporary deal from Arsenal until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old joined El Grana on loan in a summer deal from the Gunners having previously enjoyed successful spells at Brentford and Birmingham City in the English Championship, but he has featured only six times at Estadio Nuevo Carmenes this campaign, netting once.

He joined the Andalucians at the behest of boss Paco Jemez, who was dismissed after only six matches, and has struggled for gametime since with various reports in AS, the Daily Mirror and the Daily Record stating a move is imminent.

Both the player and Arsenal are keen for the former Barcelona youth product to earn more playing time while Rangers boss Mark Warburton saw his signature as a priority this month.

Toral has never made a senior appearance for Arsenal, whom he joined in 2011 from the Blaugrana alongside Hector Bellerin.

He is likely to feature in Granada's squad for this weekend's trip to the Bernabeu before making the switch.
