Ramos departure confirmed

Malaga have confirmed the departure of coach Juande Ramos, five days after speculation the 62-year-old had stepped down from the role.

Club president Sheikh Abdullah Ben Nasser Al Thani tweeted last Thursday he ‘respected’ the decision of the former Real Madrid coach and wishing him the best, but the club had not confirmed officially he was departing.

“The manager ceases to be leader of the first team from [Tuesday] after the signing of the agreement between both parties,” read a club statement.

"Juande Ramos and the club have resolved in an amicable way the contract that brought together both parties– for this season and two more.

"Malaga Club de Futbol would like to thank Juande Ramos for his work and honesty and wishes him all the best in the future in both his professional and personal life.''

Ramos was presiding over a five-game winless streak for the Boquerones including a shock Copa Del Rey exit at the hands of Segunda side and Andalucian neighbours Cordoba, with his last league match in charge a 4-1 loss at Sevilla.

In total, he took charge of 18 matches at the club, winning five, drawing six and losing seven.
