Setien ‘prayed for Leganes win’

Quique Setien admitted he “prayed” that Las Palmas would beat Leganes as his side “had an off-day” after their 1-1 draw in La Liga on Saturday.

Marko Livaja’s early goal was not enough for Las Palmas to beat Leganes, who equalised from the penalty spot late on at Gran Canaria, and Setien confessed “it was a very good result for my team”.

“It was a very good result for my team after what was seen on the pitch, we had an off-day,” the Coach said after the game.

“We did very well to get a point because we were dealt many difficulties and lacked agility and quickness in our ball movement.

“I was praying that we’d keep it at 1-0, but it wasn’t to be. We didn’t play with the lucidity of recent games against a hardworking team that closed the spaces well.

“We have a way of doing things, but it depends on the inspiration of players. Changing things now wouldn’t work.”
