Lucho ‘won’t dare’ on Messi renewal

Luis Enrique admits he “won’t dare to make any forecasts” on Lionel Messi signing a new contract with Barcelona ahead of Osasuna on Saturday.

Messi’s present deal expires at the end of next season, but while there is not any expectation that the No 10 will leave Barca any time soon, Enrique refused to speculate on when his star would enter renewal talks.

“It reassures me that Messi’s father is here,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“The day he renews will be one to celebrate. For now, I won’t dare to make any forecasts.

“Our style of play? I’m tired of hearing about it. There’s nothing more to say about this. Say what you want, period.

“Real Madrid? To put pressure on them, we have to win in Pamplona and that’s what we have to do.

“Denis Suarez? He did very well against Borussia [Monchengladbach]. Andres goes without saying.

“There are players who prefer to play at night and others in the day. To me, it doesn’t matter.

“I think Andre Gomes’ best position is a wide-central midfielder because he can run and shoot.

“I have nothing to say on whether there’s a different treatment of justice between Messi and Cristiano. I’m sorry.

“Neymar is undergoing recovery and shouldn’t have any trouble playing in the [Catalan] derby.

“Sergi Roberto gives us different possibilities. He’s a wildcard player, but this year he’s playing as a right-back and he’ll stay there.

“Arda? You’ll see tomorrow if he plays. I’ve sometimes made exceptions because the player knew.”
