‘Villarreal ready to win again’

Fran Escriba insists Villarreal are ready to start winning again ahead of Saturday’s match against Leganes in La Liga.

Three defeats in their last four League games have seen Villarreal drop to sixth in the table, while their presence in the Europa League last 32 rides on the group stage’s final matchday next Thursday.

“We’ve lost two games in the League and we know what it means,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“This team are now capable of stringing together a run of wins, as we’ve already shown this season, so I’m confident the team will have a good game and that our mentality is to win.

“Denis Cheryshev has some muscular discomfort, but it’s not serious. Bruno has some swelling and will stay behind. It depends on his recovery, but we hope to have him back on Thursday.

“They’re two important players, but we have players to replace them without any problems.

“Bruno is a big absence, it’s always a blow, but we have Trigueros, Jonathan, Rodri … they can take his place.

“Leganes are a team in need. They have many casualties but still have quality and play to make life difficult for you.

“They’ve stuck with the same idea that led them to La Liga, they’re a team that have competed well, despite their slump.

“I think results haven’t done them justice, they’ve kept the organisation that took them to La Liga and competed well at the start of the season.

“I expect a team in line with their Coach’s ideals; an organised team that know how to play, defend well, still have quality players and are dangerous.”
