‘Pressure disappearing from Eibar’

Jose Luis Mendilibar believes Eibar will soon be able to play “with calmness and without fear” of relegation after Saturday's 1-0 win against Celta Vigo.

Fran Rico's ninth-minute goal moved Eibar some nine points clear of La Liga's relegation zone and just three behind the top six, although Celta were understrength in light of Thursday's Europa League decider versus Standard Liege.

“We entered the game very well. Then we suffered, but we created more chances than them and more clear ones,” the Coach said after the game.

"The first 20 minutes were good and we scored, then they played better but couldn't finish their moves off. They came to our box and were stopped, and it cost them.

“We've won, these three points are very good and those behind us are now further away.

“Still, there's much of the season to go. We've played 12 games and our thinking is being away from the bottom three.

“We'll see if we can pick up points for comfort before Christmas, then we can play with calmness and without fear.

“Adrian Gonzalez? It's important that players who don't usually play are ready to seize their chances, as is what happened to Adrian.”
