Bakambu ‘rejected PSG for Villarreal’

Villarreal striker Cedric Bakambu has revealed that he rejected Paris Saint-Germain in the summer as the French giants did not believe in him “so much”.

Bakambu was linked with bigger clubs after a successful season with Villarreal that saw him score 22 goals, namely PSG, whom the forward claims wanted him to partner Edinson Cavani following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure.

“I was in contact with PSG to become Cavani’s partner in attack,” he told L’Equipe.

“But there were two options – one that believed more in me and one not so much.”
