Former Villarreal boss Marcelino is reportedly locked in talks with Inter about becoming their new Coach.
According to Marca, Marcelino met with Inter’s owners, along with his agent Eugenio Botas, on Friday, which set negotiations “on the right track”.
The newspaper stresses “nothing has been finalised”, although reports in Italy have since made the ex-Sevilla and Real Zaragoza boss the favourite for the job.
Marcelino twice led Villarreal to sixth place in La Liga between 2013 and 2015 and went two better last season as he took the Yellow Submarine to fourth and the Europa League semi-finals.
However, he was sacked just a week before their Champions League playoff against Monaco back in August for differences with the club’s board.
