Setien blasts ref for pen decision

Las Palmas boss Quique Setien criticised the referee following his side's narrow defeat away to Villarreal after awarding a penalty against the visitors.

Los Amarillos took a first-half lead through Kevin-Prince Boateng before a controversial penalty 25 minutes from time was converted by Nicola Sansone, before Cedric Bakambu's late winner.

"The reality is that we have been treated unfairly – would the penalty have been given had it been us? I doubt it," fumed Setien.

"If you say everything you want to say (about the referees) you get punished, so I will stop there, but it is clear.

"But I do not think the referees are influenced by anything other than subsconsciously by the teams playing and the expectancy of the home crowd – the same thing happened to us in Sevilla.

"It's a shame and there's no remedy for us, so we must move on."
