Eusebio delighted with La Real

Eusebio Sacristan voiced his delight with Real Sociedad’s “great work” in their 3-0 victory over Basque rivals Alaves on Saturday.

Goals from Xabi Prieto, Willian Jose and Carlos Vela within the opening hour fired La Real to their third win in five games, which leaves them just a place off La Liga’s top six.

“I’m very happy with the game that the players had,” the Coach said after the match.

“We knew the difficulties of our opponents and the match. We knew we had to work from start to finish, applying pressure and intensity.

“We did well and deserve this result. Goals were the consequence of our great work. In the last phase of the first half, Alaves showed their determination and forced us to work.

“Then, after half-time, we went out with the aim of making it 2-0 and curbed the change made our opponents, who introduced another forward.

“We were able to keep the match under control in the second half thanks to our good work.

“We’re in a good way. The players are competing well. We must continue to grow, but if there are still things that aren’t working, it’s not due to the attitude of the players, so giving them continuity is the way forward, although we’re a group of 26 to 27 players and everyone here is important.

“We’ll keep working on improving our automations: defence, pressure, taking the initiative from our goal, reaching the other box with enough advantage.

“We’ll continue in this line. I don’t intend to stick to any one style or doctrine, but to win, making the most of the players at my disposal.

“They have technique, are good in one-on-ones and understand that there’s a style of play that suits us, but sometimes mistakes happen.

“La Real don’t want to play like Barca, they want to play like La Real.”
