Barcelona have confirmed that Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba picked up injuries during Wednesday’s 4-0 thrashing of Manchester City on Wednesday.
Alba pulled up in just the 10th minute at Camp Nou, the left-back having already encountered fitness issues while on international duty last week, while Pique came off worse for wear from a David Silva challenge in the first half’s latter stages.
“The Club’s medical staff have announced that the centre half ]Pique] has a right ankle sprain whilst the left back [Alba] has a hamstring problem in his left leg,” read a statement on Barca’s official website.
“Both players will have further tests on Thursday to ascertain the exact extent of their injuries.”
