Diego Simeone insists Antoine Griezmann has reacted “brilliantly” to Franck Ribery’s claim that the Atletico Madrid forward is not world class.
Ribery felt Griezmann had not yet displayed the consistency exhibited by the world’s best players, but Simeone feels the Bayern Munich man has only spurred on his fellow Frenchman with his remarks.
“Based on the characteristics of their new Coach, they’ll be very competitive,” the Coach said at a Press conference ahead of Saturday’s game against Granada in La Liga.
“I see players in their team with attacking characteristics like Pereira and Marquez, who are good going forward.
“We must focus on what we’re doing. We don’t know how they’ll play, so we must focus more than ever to bring the party to where we can do well and start strongly, which is most important thing against these types of teams.
“Griezmann? He’s doing okay. He has very clear ideas and matured with us, especially as a person.
“I can’t observe everyone’s opinions. We must respect them all, but Griezmann responded brilliantly to Ribery’s comment, so there’s nothing more to add.”
