James picks up calf knock

Real Madrid have confirmed that James Rodriguez picked up a calf strain before Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Eibar – but will still represent Colombia.

James was replaced by Mateo Kovacic in the build-up to kick-off at the Santiago Bernabeu, and Madrid’s official website stated after the game the Colombian “suffered a grade-one injury to the soleus muscle in his left leg”.

However, Marca reports Colombia will still summon him for the next fortnight for 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay on Friday and Uruguay four days later, although he is not expected to play in the former.

Los Blancos’ injury problems are piling up, with Marcelo, Casemiro and Luka Modric already on the treatment table.
