Getafe appoint Bordalas

Segunda side Getafe have appointed Jose Bordalas as their new coach a day after announcing the dismissal of Juan Esnaider.

Bordalas guided Deportivo Alaves to their Segunda title win last season, but was surprisingly dismissed by the club following their promotion to be replaced by the Argentine Mauricio Pellegrino.

Getafe were relegated from the top flight on the final day of last season after a defeated to Betis, coupled with last day victories for Sporting Gijon and Rayo Vallecano, seeing them finish 19th, above only Levante.

The experienced Bordalas has been in management for over two decades enjoying various stints at Alicante, Elche and Alcorcon before spending last season at Alaves, where he won 22 of his 44 games in charge.
