Parejo called ‘a dog’ with family

Valencia midfielder Dani Parejo has spoken of the abuse he has suffered on the streets of Valencia at the hands of the club's fans.

Parejo – who netted the winning penalty with three minutes to go in his side's win over Alaves on Thursday night – has described the abuse he has suffered and confirmed his desire to continue playing for the club and giving his all, despite reportedly pushing for a summer move to rivals Sevilla.

"I'd be going with my family down the street and they would come up to me and shout 'you're a dog'", explained the former club captain on Cadena Cope.

"I've reached the point where I cannot take this anymore, but that is not a fan of Valencia who does that.

"I will stick up for the club and for the people until the last day I'm here, fate says that I'm in Valencia and I'm a professional so everyday I'm here I will continue to train and work hard.

"Those who have insulted me do not care, but if I had missed the penalty I'd have felt very sad and would not have wanted to leave the stadium.

"It was a tough decision to take the penalty, but I like to take risks."
