Kempes makes Valencia job plea

Mario Kempes has made an impassioned plea to become the next Valencia boss after being left “very worried” by Valencia’s 2-1 defeat to Athletic Bilbao.

Valencia are now the only team in La Liga not to have picked up a point after they fell to a fourth consecutive loss on Sunday, and Kempes – a club legend with 116 goals in 184 games for Los Che – suggested he could be the man to rescue their season.

“It’s very worrying what’s happening with this Valencia without projects or ideas, and what we’re seeing is pure footballing impotence,” the ESPN commentator wrote on Twitter.

“In response to those who ask for me to become the Coach of Valencia, I would with all my desire, so long as they ask me.”

Valencia’s last player-turned-pundit at the helm was Gary Neville, who lasted just four months before his dismissal back in March.
