‘Granada have a long way to go…’

Paco Jemez admits Granada “have a long way to go to being a team and fitting in all the jigsaw pieces” ahead of Sunday’s match against Eibar.

Granada made up for their heavy defeat to Las Palmas on La Liga’s opening day with a draw against Villarreal last weekend, and Jemez says his side have been working like “donkeys” in a bid to keep gelling.

“We must have a lot of possession and play at least with the same intensity as our opponents, who play a very practical game, are generous in their effort and are a strong team,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“They’re a team that perhaps don’t have much of a passing game because they don’t need it.

“Still, when they reach the high areas of their attack, they know very well how to finish moves off quickly.

“We must be very careful because they’ll be constantly trying to play balls towards our defence.

“We’ve worked like donkeys in order to avoid making the same mistakes in that game [against Las Palmas].

“We have a long way to go to being a team and fitting in all the pieces of the jigsaw that have arrived. Making evaluations now is worthless.

“We have more competition and options in the squad, which will lead to us being more competitive, but in some positions there are too many players, so I have to leave many of them out.”
