Escriba wants Villarreal patience

Villarreal Coach Fran Escriba has called for patience from his club’s fans as he continues to stamp his authority on the team.

The Yellow Submarine drew for the second time this season on Sunday, playing out a goalless draw with Europa League holders Sevilla.

“I want us to be patient with the team,” 51-year-old Escriba said at a Press conference. “We’re asking for 100 days of reflection.

“The fans have behaved well, but with a bit of patience we will see a Villarreal that we all want.”

The former Getafe boss only took charge of his new team earlier this month, following the resignation of Marcelino, but expressed his satisfaction with the performance against Jorge Sampaoli’s side.

“I am very satisfied. We created chances and we avoided them creating chances, but they had a great goalkeeper.

“The lesson of the match is very positive. We could have won perfectly. We have two points but our feelings are good.

“Since I have been here the team has been solid. We have two weeks to be able to work on tactical ideas.”
