Riera excited by Osasuna return

Oriol Riera has declared himself excited over his return to Osasuna and says not much has changed since his last spell at El Sadar.

The 30-year-old arrives on loan from Deportivo la Coruna, having spent the 2013-14 season with Los Rojillos during which he notched 13 goals from 37 appearances, and could not hide his enthusiasm during his official presentation.

“I still see a simple, humble club as always, one that fights, and that’s something that will never change,” Riera told a Press conference.

“It wasn’t easy to get this deal done and I want to thank Osasuna for the efforts they made to get me and I’m really excited.

“I feel this club has a chance of top-flight safety and stability and I strongly believe that can be achieved.”

Catalonia-born Riera was asked if his experience in La Liga and knowledge of the club meant he could be one of the leaders in the dressing room.

“Osasuna are used to suffering and we’ll suffer as usual, so right now is the time to show some character, whether you are aged 20, 25 or 30.

“The important thing with a squad at first is to all get along, to be pulling in the same direction, and then it’s work, work, work.

“There is enough experience here to overcome the difficult moments and I hope the fans are with us as they have been. Our support at home is strong and we want opposing teams to feel that.

“I think any player would like to come to Osasuna because it is a historic club,” he affirmed.
