La Real: Willian Jose in, Jonathas out

Real Sociedad have announced the signing of former Las Palmas striker Willian Jose on a five-year contract in the wake of Jonathas’ departure to Rubin Kazan.

Willian Jose arrives from Deportivo Maldonado for an undisclosed fee, having scored nine goals in 29 La Liga appearances for Las Palmas in their successful survival bid last season.

The ex-Real Madrid youngster passed a medical in Madrid on Saturday before touching down in San Sebastian, where he has begun training with his new teammates.

Jonathas, meanwhile, becomes the latest Spanish-based player to join Javi Gracia’s Russian revolution for a reported €7m.

The 27-year-old only moved to La Real from Elche last season but failed to live up to expectations, scoring just seven goals in all competitions.
