Malaga keen on Eibar winger

Málaga are hot on the trail of Eibar winger Keko and have re-opened talks with the Basque outfit in a bid to bring him to the Costa del Sol.

The 24-year-old [pictured, right] was the subject of interest from Málaga in the winter transfer window and has now informed his club that he would like a move to southern Spain.

Madrid-born Keko has an €8m release clause in his contract, while Eibar are believed to be asking around €7m for him, while Málaga are believed to have lodged a €4m offer.

Eibar sporting director Fran Garagarza admitted this week they may be powerless to stop the player leaving, although it could be a complex operation.

“Keko is the only one of our players where we don’t own 100 per cent of his rights, with 30 per cent of any future transfer belonging to his agents,” he said.

Keko joined Eibar from Albacete in July 2015 and enjoyed a stand-out debut season in the top flight last year, making 29 appearances with three goals.
