Aduriz: Euro 2016 a privilege

Athletic Bilbao’s Aritz Aduriz regards his inclusion in Spain’s Euro 2016 squad as a ‘privilege’ as it’s ‘not normal’ at his age.

The 35-year-old ended the season as the highest-scoring Spaniard in La Liga and was rewarded with a call-up to La Roja’s spring friendlies, scoring against Italy and keeping Diego Costa and Paco Alcacer out of the group to go to France.

“There are a lot of very good people who have been left out,” Aduriz told reporters, according to AS, adding he greeted his inclusion with ‘great enthusiasm.’

“It’s not normal for someone my age to go to a European Championship, especially when you’re not normally in the squad.

“It’s a very difficult decision [for Vicente del Bosque]. He has to leave out players who deserve to be here.”
