Quique Sanchez Flores reportedly leads the race to become Espanyol’s next Coach after toppling Paco Jemez “in the last few hours”.
Paco was the previous favourite for the role, but Marca claims the Rayo boss has “lost ground” to Sanchez Flores, the latter of whom is seeking employment after leaving Watford.
The newspaper adds Los Periquitos’ hierarchy are fans of the ex-Valencia and Atletico Madrid trainer’s “international experience, character and commitment to attractive football”.
The former are expected to meet with incumbent Constantin Galca on Friday, where the Romanian will be relieved of his duties, despite leading the club to Primera safety last season.
