‘Barca won’t stop winning trophies’

Jordi Alba believes Barcelona “won’t stop” winning trophies after their Copa del Rey triumph against Sevilla on Sunday confirmed successive doubles.

Alba scored the all-important goal in extra time at the Vicente Calderon to break the deadlock in Barca’s favour and lay the foundations for a 2-0 victory, and the left-back spoke of his relief at solving a “difficult” game, which saw the Catalans go a man down early doors.

“It was difficult. When we were left with one less player, we struggled and more so against a team like Sevilla,” he told Telecinco after the game.

“I was lucky enough to get the goal. I’m happy about that, for the trophy and the double.

“We couldn’t play as we wanted due to the circumstances, but the team played with the calibre that was needed.

“We could’ve lost if it was another game, but at half-time we agreed that we could win because of our quality in attack.

“I didn’t speak about the referee after our Champions League exit and said Atletico deserved to go through. We won [on Sunday] and I’ll take that.

“It’s been a very good season. Not every season can you win three trophies. We won two this season and [us winning trophies] won’t stop.”
