El Madrigal key for Cazorla

Santi Cazorla hopes former side Villarreal reach the Europa League Final and warns the first leg at El Madrigal will be the key game against Liverpool.

The Yellow Submarine host the Reds on Thursday but Cazorla told AS that, if Arsenal allow it, he’ll be at Anfield as a fan to see the return, and praised the current vintage of Villarreal.

“It’ll be very tight but I think that if Villarreal are at their level, they have a lot of possibilities,” the Spain international added.

“But Liverpool are something different [since Jurgen Klopp was appointed]. They have a clear philosophy, they’re a strong team, they press a lot in attack but if Villarreal gets past that and moves the ball around, they can have success.

“Liverpool’s best player? Philippe Coutinho, he makes the difference and dictates a lot of their play. Everyone suffers at Anfield and Villarreal certainly will. The key will be El Madrigal.

“Will I return to Villarreal? I don’t rule it out. Everyone knows it’s a special club for me.”
