Pako: Valencia were tired & lucky

Pako Ayestaran admitted Valencia were “fatigued” in their 2-2 draw with Getafe but was nonetheless “unhappy” with his side’s intensity.

Paco Alcacer’s late equaliser against his former club salvaged a draw for Valencia as their run of three straight wins came to an end, and the Coach conceded his team were lucky to return to Mestalla with a point.

“We found a point. Getafe were better than us. We lacked a bit of concentration,” he said after the game.

“We didn’t recover well from the previous game, we didn’t feel good from the beginning and that cost us. We didn’t have fluidity in our play.

“The team drew with some luck. I’m not happy with our intensity and neither are the players.

“I hope [our poor performance] was simply down to fatigue and nothing more than that. Players like Rodrigo [Moreno] got into one-on-ones and lost the ball.

“Fatigue affects you and it was very difficult to maintain the level we had [coming into the match].”
