Borja: La Roja my dream

Borja Baston says it is his ‘dream’ to play for the Spain national team and he also wants to win a place at Atletico Madrid.

The striker, loaned to Eibar by Los Colchoneros, has had a prolific season in La Liga, netting 17 times to be the joint-highest scoring Spaniard in the division, with Aritz Aduriz, and Borja hopes to follow the Athletic Bilbao man to La Roja.

“My ultimate dream is to play with the national team. It’s a dream to represent your country and the level of players there. It’d be incredible and hopefully I can get there, because it’d be among the best,” he said, AS reports.

“And Atletico, I was able to debut there, but not stay. I know it’s difficult with the level the team has right now and what they’re fighting for. They’re looking for a world class striker, and have had very good strikers.”

Borja added that he is enjoying his time with Eibar, and expressed his gratitude to Los Armeros’ Coach, Jose Luis Mendilibr.

“We’ve been successful and I’m very happy with the group formed here. A team in a city of 27,000 people, which is tiny, and is in the Primera is an historic thing,” he acknowledged.

“I have to thank the Coach for the opportunity he is giving me. I’m trying to show that on the pitch.”
