Kevin Gameiro tells Sevilla to be prepared for extra time in the Europa League quarter-final with Athletic Bilbao. ‘We know a lot can happen.’
Sevilla lead 2-1 from the first leg, played at Athletic’s San Mames, and Gameiro insists the team are ready to see out the tie and reach the last four.
“We’re professionals. I get the feeling this group wants to qualify. We won the first game but we know a lot can happen. We have to be prepared for 90 minutes or more,” the striker told a Press conference, AS reports.
“We know they’ll push a lot but we are prepared. We know how they play and we also want to win the match to reach the next round. The people of Seville enjoy their football and will help us a lot to win.”
Gameiro added that he doesn’t feel overburdened despite the late stage of the season, and is more concerned with Sevilla winning than adding to his goal tally.
“The important thing is that we win. Scoring or not isn’t the main thing. I depend on the team, without them I’m nobody,” he explained.
“I’m fine. It’s hard to play every game but I want to. If I don’t have a problem I want to play and I have the faith of the Coach.”
The game comes as Seville holds the Feria de Abril, the April Fair, but Gameiro insists the team’s focus is on football, not fiesta.
“We haven’t talked about enjoying the Fair later. We’re professionals and we have a very important game, so the concentration is good,” he added.
