Iniesta: Analyse, not dramatise

Andres Iniesta says now is the time for Barcelona to “analyse things, not dramatise them” after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad.

Barca suffered their second straight loss in La Liga and saw their lead at the summit cut to just three points after they were struck by the curse of Anoeta for a fourth straight season, but the midfielder insists “we’re still close to meeting our objectives”.

“In the first half we didn’t create chances like we did in the second, which was better for us, but we didn’t take the ones we made,” he said in his post-match interview.

“Everything is tighter now and we’ve lost our cushion [referring to their significant lead].

“If we weren’t fit in the second half, we’d have struggled more and [Real] would’ve created more chances.

“It’s difficult to explain a defeat, but we have to move on and think about Wednesday, which is a key game.

“In a season, there are moments of everything, but we’re Barca and we’re still close to meeting our objectives.

“We have to think about what’s ahead of us. Ultimately, the League will be won by the most consistent team.

“This [defeat] won’t affect us in the Champion League. We shouldn’t dramatise things but analyse them.

“[On his protests to the referee after the game, Real] made changes and time was lost. Still, we’re only focused on ourselves.”
