Abelardo happy with Levante draw

Sporting Gijon Coach Abelardo admits he wouldn’t have settled for a draw prior to going to Levante but is happy with a point on the balance of the game.

The Asturians remain in the bottom three after the goalless draw but maintain their three-point lead over bottom of the table Levante, who are now four points from safety.

“Both teams had chances. There was a lot of respect,” Abelardo said, post-match, AS reports.

“It was a very important game. We keep the same advantage over them and I think any point away from home is good.

“Every game is a different story. We have tough opponents. If we win all four at home, which is difficult, we’re safe. But we can add points away, like today.

“Before the game starts I’d never take 0-0. But as the game has been I think it’s a fair result. We leave the gap from Levante at three points and add a point away, which is always good.

“We don’t know how to play to defend. We’ve gone all out, unapologetic, knowing how important the game was.”
