Real relent on Vela exile

Real Sociedad have relented on their decision to drop Carlos Vela by naming him in their squad for Saturday’s La Liga trip to Celta Vigo.

Vela was expected to miss the game at Balaidos after he was absent from training on Monday without permission and broke a curfew the night before, but Eusebio Sacristan explained at a Press conference that his players had called for the Mexican’s return.

“With Carlos Vela, I initially decided to punish him, but he showed repentance and his teammates asked me to recall him,” the Coach said.

“I thought about punishing him for a week, but I changed my decision because it’s best for the team.

“I’ve decided that Carlos is in the squad, now I must see who’s in the best position to play.

“It’s a mistake and failure [on Vela’s part], but discipline must be met.

“For the good of the team, the players must understand that it’s best not to go against the team. It’s better to have them on board.

“We have a very exciting possibility to move back into the top half [against Celta].

“Imanol [Agirretxe] still has some little annoyances which don’t allow him to feel comfortable and 100 percent.

“Vigo is my second home, I feel very comfortable there and I have many friends from my two spells at the club.

“Celta are having a good season. They’re a team who are maturing all the time.”
