Paco Jemez sarcastically claimed “I didn’t see a referee in the game” after his nine-man Rayo Vallecano lost 5-1 to Barcelona on Thursday.
Los Vallecanos were 2-0 down against the Catalans by the 23rd minute, with a hint of offside about the second goal, before red cards to Diego Llorente and Manuel Iturra, the former of which seemed more worthy of a booking, left the Catalans in complete control.
“We tried the best we could,” the Coach said after the game.
“Games are often not as you imagine, but this one strengthens us and makes us better for the work and intensity we displayed.
“[On ref Inaki Bikandi Garrido’s performance], I didn’t see a referee in the game.
“I’ll never know, but I suspect that if we had finished with 11 the game, it could’ve possibly been different.
“Still, there’s little we can do.”
