‘Mayoral has confidence, personality’

Zinedine Zidane spoke of Borja Mayoral’s ‘confidence and personality’ after the youngster impressed in Real Madrid’s win over Levante.

Mayoral started in place of the injured Karim Benzema and the 18-year-old claimed the second goal of the 3-1 win, though in the end it’ll go down as a Diego Marino own goal.

“He’s the second No 9. We know what he can bring us,” AS quotes Zidane saying of the cantera product, one of a number involved at Ciutat de Valencia.

“He’s doing well, training well, he’s committed, and is very young. He has confidence and personality.”

Regarding the other youngsters Zidane took to Valencia, he encouraged them to continue developing and praised Lucas Vazquez.

“We want them to emerge. Not because they’re from the cantera, but because they try their best,” he continued.

“Lucas did well. He’s committed and he’s fast. He can make a difference. He worked a lot and ended up with cramp.”
