Pique: Neymar will never join Madrid

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique says he “would bet an arm or a hand” that Neymar will never join Real Madrid.

Pique scored the winning goal in Barca’s 2-1 victory over Sevilla on Sunday, which opened up an eight-point gap atop La Liga on Atletico Madrid and 12 on their Clasico rivals.

And speaking via Periscope, where he was first posed the question about his future, the stopper replied: “I’m very happy at Barcelona. [Manchester] United are my second club, but my future is here.

“[On Cristiano Ronaldo’s post-Atleti rant], everyone can believe what they want.

“[On joining Pep Guardiola at Manchester City], my love for United is too strong to go to City, so I don’t see myself in their shirt, even though Pep is a great Coach.

“[On Neymar to Madrid], I’d bet an arm or a hand that Ney will never join Madrid.

“He likes Barcelona very much, he’s in love with the club and I think he’ll stay here for many years.

“[On playing abroad], I’d try another League in the future, when I have only a few years of my career left, maybe [the United States of] America, but no-one knows what will happen in the future.”

Prior to his social media commitments, he told Movistar+ after the game: “Sevilla defended very well and came at us.

“It cost us to turn the scoreboard [in our favour] and we’ve suffered a lot in recent games, but that’s how you win the League.

“[Lionel] Messi creates anything, moves, assists, goals etc… Having him in the team is both a luxury and a pleasure.

“He has brutal technical quality and privileged vision, plus the freedom of movement to find the best option.

“There are teams who stop him better than others, but it’s impossible [to stop him completely].

“[On matching a record run of 34 games unbeaten], these feats are great, but they don’t win you trophies.

“We’ve yet to finish the season, but we’re doing everything very well.

“Our rivals aren’t only [Real] Madrid. There are others in the League, like Atletico [Madrid] and Sevilla in the Copa [del Rey], plus those in the Champions League.
