‘Rayo need personality at Betis’

Paco Jemez feels it’s important Rayo Vallecano show their strength of character against Real Betis at a packed Benito Villamarin.

The sides meet separated by only two points and Rayo Coach Jemez told a Press conference that he is wary of some of the home players.

“Despite being newly-promoted they have the budget to put together a squad like they have done, with good players and their path in the Primera is possibly a bit of a surprise,” Jemez said, AS reports.

“They’ve been through a bit of everything. They’re not designed to be in trouble but they are, as are we and many others. They have players with a lot of talent and we have to stop them.

“They have Ruben Castro and that worries me. Other players have talent and I don’t want them to uncover it against us.

“The game will be like the one against Sporting Gijon. It’s a ground where 45,000 people support their team and we have to play with personality.

“In that regard the approach will be very similar to the one we took at El Molinon.”
