‘Sevilla must fight like warriors’

Unai Emery says he needs “warriors” for Sevilla’s “epic game of war” against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Sunday.

The Andalucians can close the gap on Villarreal in fourth place to just five points with a first away win of the season in the League at Vallecas, having lost just one of their last 22 games, but the Coach warned only the maximum in “preparation, intensity and concentration” would do.

“We have a clear direction, and the most important game is the one at Vallecas,” he said at a Press conference.

“It’ll be an epic game of war, so we need warriors and then play as we know how.

“[Rayo] require a significant level of preparation, intensity and concentration from you.

“Rayo are currently in form, so they’ll demand a lot of us in remaining focused and competing for the 90 minutes.

“Beating them poses a challenge, and it’s a difficulty which can increase our credibility [if we win].

“[On winning away], we’re presented with constant challenges, daily motivation and three competitions with a view to achieving important things.

“We have to restore credibility. We’ve done so at home, but we must emphasis [this credibility] away. We must consolidate fifth place and look up the table.

“[On the number of bans], ending the game with 11 men is a constant message I’ve relayed to the team.

“They’re are aware of it, but we’re in a learning process, so it’s not a handicap.

“We approach every game as a motivation, and [on Sunday], we want to show we need and want the win and have the desire to win.

“[On Paco Jemez], he has a very recognisable philosophy, and he’s showing his ability at Rayo.

“I don’t know him very well, but he’s a Coach who likes to press high, demand a lot and makes it difficult [for opponets] to win.

“At no time did any opportunity arise for [Fernando Llorente] to leave for China.

“There are many individual challenges left for him to increase his performance levels.”
